ULTRA-SHORT PULSE PICOSECOND

MD Pico® Laser

Multi-Wavelength Picosecond Platform

The MD Pico® Laser is a versatile, multi-wavelength picosecond laser platform designed to address a wide range of skin concerns, from stubborn tattoo ink to skin-rejuvenation.

Using ultra-short picosecond pulses to deliver targeted energy, MD Pico shatters pigmentation photomechanically with minimal heat buildup, maximizing patient safety.

Multiple options to target different depths and ink colors.

Primary TargetsInk, Pigment & Texture

Breaks down targeted melanin, pigment particles, and ink.

Treatment ApproachPhotomechanical

Shivers targets mechanically, preventing surrounding thermal stress.

PICOSECOND PHYSICS

How MD Pico Works

MD Pico delivers laser pulses in picoseconds—trillionths of a second. This speed is significantly faster than traditional Q-switched nanosecond lasers.

These ultra-short pulses deliver energy so rapidly that it creates a primarily photomechanical effect. Instead of heating the target pigment to break it down, the intense pressure wave shatters tattoo ink and melanin into tiny, dust-like particles. The body's immune system then naturally clears these particles, resulting in faster clearing with fewer treatments.

CLINICAL VERSATILITY

1064 nm Fractional Resurfacing

In addition to flat handpieces, MD Pico features a fractional handpiece utilizing the 1064 nm wavelength.

This fractional approach creates microscopic treatment zones within the skin, initiating a natural healing process. It stimulates collagen remodeling and skin resurfacing to effectively treat acne scars, enlarge pores, fine lines, and uneven texture with minimal down-time.

WAVELENGTH OPTIONS

Multi-Wavelength Technology

Multiple available wavelengths allow providers to customize treatments based on target depth, skin type, and specific tattoo ink colors:

532 nm

Highly absorbed by melanin and red/orange/yellow inks. Primarily used for epidermal pigmentation and warm-colored tattoo removal.

585 nm

Targets superficial vascular lesions and red/orange tattoo pigments, adding versatility for specific clinical targets.

650 nm

Specifically optimized to target green and blue tattoo ink colors, which are notoriously difficult for standard lasers.

755 nm

Highly absorbed by melanin and green/blue inks. Widely used for benign pigmented lesions and multicolored tattoos.

1064 nm

Penetrates deeper to target black and dark tattoo inks and deep dermal pigments, safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types.

CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

What Can MD Pico Treat?

The multi-wavelength design allows the MD Pico platform to address an extensive range of indications:

Tattoo Removal & Multicolored InkPICO

Shatters dark, blue, green, and red tattoo inks using optimized wavelengths.

Pigmented Lesions & Sun DamagePICO

Fades age spots, freckles, café-au-lait spots, and epidermal pigmentation.

Acne Scars & TexturePICO

Uses fractional picosecond pulses to promote collagen production and smooth skin.

Fine Lines & WrinklesPICO

Stimulates deep tissue remodeling to soften signs of aging with minimal downtime.

Uneven Skin Tone & RednessPICO

Addresses diffuse pigmentation and selected vascular redness.

Enlarged Pores & FirmnessPICO

Refines pore structure and improves skin elasticity through fractional resurfacing.

CLINICAL PROFILE & EXPECTATIONS

What to Expect During & After Treatment

Because picosecond lasers rely primarily on photomechanical energy rather than heat, treatments generally cause less collateral thermal damage, leading to lower discomfort and quicker recovery profiles than older platforms.

Patients typically describe the sensation as short, warm snaps. Following treatment, temporary redness, swelling, warmth, or mild skin sensitivity are common. For tattoo and pigment treatments, temporary darkening, crusting, or light flaking may occur as pigment particles migrate to the skin surface. Most epidermal side effects resolve within 3 to 7 days.

Post-care: Avoid sun exposure, use mineral sunscreenDowntime: Typically 1–3 Days
